A man who used a taxi to get away after robbing a Dublin bank was this evening arrested by Gardaí.
Earlier in the afternoon the man had entered a post office in Harold’s Cross wearing a woolly hat and armed with what appeared to be a gun. When he did not succeed in getting any money he left in a taxi.
The man then appeared a short time later in a branch of the Allied Irish Bank in Terenure. After threatening staff with a gun he fled again in a taxi, this time with an undisclosed sum of money.
He was later arrested in Crumlin area after a tip off. The cash was recovered and the man was found to be carrying an imitation firearm.
The taxi driver was also arrested. Gardaí are questioning both men at Terenure Garda station.
