A man has been arrested outside the Republican National Convention in New York after allegedly confronting an Irish-American Congressman and calling him an "Irish murderer".

Mr King, a Republican Congressman for Long Island, New York, is an outspoken support of  Sinn Féin in North America.

He described the incident, in which he was unharmed, in today's New York Postnewspaper.

It happened yesterday as he was making his way to his hotel. The assailant, a middle-aged man ran at him screaming. Police dragged the protestor away.
