A man in his 30s has been in connection with a fatal crash in Co Sligo this afternoon.
A 55-year-old male pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car which then collided with a parked car.
The incident happened at 12.55pm at Stone Park, Ballymote, Co Sligo. The injured man was taken to Sligo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3.40pm.
The driver of the car was arrested and is being held at Sligo Garda Station where he can be held for up to 24 hours. The name of the deceased will not be released before Saturday, Garda spokesman said.
Meanwhile, gardai have appealed for information about a man who was knocked down and killed on N25 Cork to Midleton Road early this morning.
The Polish man in his 20s who has not yet been named, was killed at Gortagousta near Carrigtwohill at around 2.30am.
