A male pedestrian was being treated in hospital today after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Co Derry, police said.

A male pedestrian was being treated in hospital today after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Co Derry, police said.

The incident happened shortly before 2am on the Castledawson Road in Magherafelt and involved a Peugeot 406, officers said.

The victim, a young man, suffered head and arm injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening. He was being treated at Antrim Area Hospital.
