A man in his 20s is being questioned by gardaí after a standoff in Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, today when the man locked himself into a house with five other people.
The incident began at around 8am at a house near the village.
Three children under the age of six as well as two other adults were locked in the house with the man.
It is understood care workers from the Health and Safety Executive had called to the house but were refused entry.
Gardaí and trained negotiators were called as a precaution, and the man gave himself up at around 11.30am.
