Man's body discovered near Sligo river

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a  man's body near a river in Sligo town this morning.

A short time ago the man's body was removed from the scene and brought to Sligo General Hospital, where the State Pathologist Marie Cassidy is to carry out a post-mortem this afternoon.

Part of Sligo town was sealed off following the discovery near the Garavogue River early this morning while Garda forensic officers examined the scene.

The body of the man in his 40s was found at 6am on Rockwood Parade.
