A man is in a serious but stable condition in Dublin's Mater Hospital today after being wounded in the second shooting to occur in the Irish capital in 24 hours.

The victim, who is in his early twenties, was attacked on Berrysfield Drive in South Finglas at around 8.45am.

He is believed to have gone to a house to appeal for assistance.

The shooting is the third gun attack in Dublin over the past week.

There has been an outcry over shooting incidents in the wake of the murder last weekend of Donna Cleary.
