Minister for Education Mary Hanafin has given a written guarantee to Independent TD Finian McGrath about the future of a school building on Dublin's north side.
The Greendale Community School, where author Roddy Doyle taught for many years, is now to be partly used for the education of autistic children by St Michael's House Special School.
In her letter, Ms Hanafin says: "I am pleased to inform you that the department has now finalised arrangements for the continued full use of the building for educational purposes."
It continues: "The building will also be used by St Michael's House Special School to establish special provision for autistic children.
"From May 2008, the remainder of the building will be occupied by the Integrate Ireland Language and Training Centre."
