After a four-day trial a 21-year-old Meath man has been found not guilty of raping his former girlfriend in the grounds of a school near her home. The jury of five women and seven men had heard a claim by the accused that he and the girl had had sexual relations on a number of occasions since the alleged rape.

Mr Justice O'Sullivan thanked the jury and ordered that the accused be released.
