Belgrade - President Slobodan Milosevic of Yugoslavia has named Gen Dragoljub Ojdanic as army chief of staff, replacing Gen Momcilo Perisic, Tanjug news agency reported. Gen Perisic has been appointed counsellor for defence matters to the Yugoslav Prime Minister, Mr Momir Bulatovic, Tanjug said, quoting from a presidential communique.

Western experts said the move was tantamount to a firing of Gen Perisic.
