Minor changes in Earth's orbit may have created world deserts

Subtle changes in the Earth's orbit may have brought about one of the most dramatic and visible climate changes of the past 11,000 years, that which caused the abrupt desertification of the Saharan and Arabia regions. German scientists employing a new climate system model conclude that the orbital changes were strongly echoed by atmospheric and vegetation feedbacks in the subtropics.
