KINSHASA - President Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire yesterday approved the appointment of his archrival, Mr Etienne Tshisekedi, as the country's new prime minister, state radio said.
Mr Tshisekedi has long favoured talks with rebel chief Laurent Kabila to end the war launched from eastern Zaire in October. But the rebels are pressing on with their military campaign in which they have put the demoralised Zaire army on the run.
