Cork football manager Billy Morgan will not be permitted to patrol the sidelines for six months after being hit with a lengthy ban at hearing of the Central Hearing's Committee last night.

The 24-week suspension, initially proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee, is due to an incident involving a linesman during last month's All-Ireland final defeat by Kerry.

Morgan, who was suspended earlier this year for two months for remarks made to a referee, is understood to have verbally abused linesman Marty Duffy.

Morgan can appeal to the GAA's Central Appeals Committee in the hope of having the sentence reduced and if that fails, he can make a case to the independent Disputes Resolution Authority.
