The 45th Murphy's Cork Film Festival opens on an exuberant note tomorrow night with the Irish premiere of Gerry Stembridge's delightful, Dublin-set romantic comedy, About Adam, starring Stuart Townsend as a charming young Dubliner who seduces three sisters - played by Kate Hudson, Frances O'Connor and Charlotte Bradley. Running for eight hectic days and nights at Cork Opera House, Kino, Triskel and the Gate, the festival offers a richly diverse international programme of features, shorts, documentaries, animation and seminars.
Among the main feature film highlights at the Opera House are Christopher Nolan's complex US thriller, Memento, starring Guy Pearce (Monday); Barry Levinson's Liberty Heights (Tuesday); Jonathan Teplizky's Australian Better Than Sex (Tuesday); the Swedish drama, Faithless (Thursday), scripted by Ingmar Bergman and directed by Liv Ullmann; and Wong Kar-wai's Hong Kong romantic period drama, In the Mood For Love (Thursday).
