Snooker:Galway's Vincent Muldoon is the 2007 Irisheyespoker.com Irish champion after he beat Limerick's John Torpey 8-2 in the final in Carlow on Sunday.
The 16 year-old was on top form from the off and made the most of early mistakes by Torpey to build up a superb 6-0 lead in the first session.
The afternoon session saw Torpey fight back to win the first frame but Muldoon took the next to leave himself only one frame away from victory.
Torpey took the next frame to take it to 7-2 and also won the following frame with ease. However, he went 20 behind in the 10th frame leaving Muldoon with the chance to produce a superb 53 clearance to take the frame and claim the Irish Champions title.
The win gives Muldoon automatic qualification to the World Amateur Championships in Thailand this November where he will be joined by Torpey who has taken over the No.2 spot in the rankings after his performance.
