Murder trial jury sent away

The trial of a Kilkenny teenager accused of murder has gone into legal argument at the Central Criminal Court

The trial of a Kilkenny teenager accused of murder has gone into legal argument at the Central Criminal Court. The jury has been sent away until next Thursday, so evidence can be heard in its absence.

The jury of six men and six women last heard evidence on Monday, the fifth day of evidence in the trial of Mark Costigan (18). Mr Costigan, with an address in Aylesbury, Kilkenny City, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Christine Quinn (36) at her home in the city two years ago.

The court heard that the victim's teenage son found her badly beaten and partially burnt body on December 5th, 2002 at their home on Greenfields Road in Kilkenny.
