The President of Uganda, Mr Yoweri Museveni, has arrived in the Republic for a three-day state visit. Mr Museveni is due to meet the President, Mrs McAleese, and the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, as well as the Lord Mayors of Dublin and Cork, during his visit. He will deliver UCD's millennium lecture today.

Arguably sub-Saharan Africa's leading statesman outside South Africa, Mr Museveni (56) became President of Uganda in 1986, after leading a successful five-year armed struggle against the regime of Milton Obote.
