Racing: Navan officials have called a 7.30am inspection in the morning to assess prospects of racing on Saturday.

Although clerk of the course Joe Collins’ 8am check today proved inconclusive, he is hopeful the all-hurdle card will go ahead as scheduled.

He said: "We are having a further inspection because there is a bad weather forecast.

"It’s raceable today but we are expecting more rain this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow morning."

The chase course at Navan is unraceable following an inspection on Thursday, with the three races over fences already cancelled.

However, Horse Racing Ireland have agreed to transfer the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Handicap Steeplechase Final to Naas on Sunday.

Each of the hurdle races at Navan will be divided to provide a seven-race card, weather permitting.
