Nine people were arrested in Limerick yesterday as part of the investigation into the murder of a man in a pub last month.

Nine people were arrested in Limerick yesterday as part of the investigation into the murder of a man in a pub last month.

The arrest of six men and three women aged between 21 and 39 followed raids on six houses on the north side of the city by about 70 uniformed gardai and detectives, who carried out searches of the houses.

Mr Eddie Ryan (41) was murdered on the night of November 12th when two masked gunmen burst into the Moose Bar at Cathedral Place and shot him. He had just left the removal of the remains of his brother-in-law.

The nine were arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They were brought to four different Garda stations, Henry Street, Roxboro, Mayorstone and Bruff.

The searches were carried out at 7.15 a.m. yesterday.
