Nurses vote for industrial action over pay rates

A large majority of the Irish Nurses Organisation have voted for industrial action.

A large majority of the Irish Nurses Organisation have voted for industrial action.

The dispute is over alleged pay discrepancies with House Parents who work in the intellectual disability sector.

House Parents and their assistants were awarded a pay increase earlier this year, but the nurses say they earn as much €2,000 a year more than their qualified colleagues.

Some 95 per cent of the nurses balloted voted in favour of action.
