Racing:The Aidan O'Brien-trained trio of Excellent Art, Ramonti and Asiatic Boy have stood their ground at the final declaration stage for the BGG Sussex Stakes.

Wednesday's Glorious Goodwood highlight has attracted an eight-runner field as the John Hills-trained Dark Islander was the only horse to drop out. He will instead tackle the Betfair Cup on Tuesday.

St James's Palace Stakes hero and ante-post favourite Excellent Art has not been seen since scoring at Royal Ascot and will be joined by stablemates Archipenko and Trinity College.

O'Brien's charges will bid to give the Ballydoyle maestro his first victory in the race since Rock Of Gibraltar struck in 2002.

Ramonti will take his chance after winning the Queen Anne Stakes, while Asiatic Boy has his first taste of British racing at the Sussex venue.

Sir Michael Stoute runs Jeremy, defeated by Ramonti last month, while Ed Dunlop saddles Munaddam as he bids to secure back-to-back victories in the Sussex Stakes following Court Masterpiece last year.

The field is completed by Kevin Prendergast's Decado, a winner at the Curragh on his most recent outing.

Godolphin's Rio De La Plata will face six rivals when he goes for gold in the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes on Wednesday.

The son of Rahy made a big impression routing 18 rivals by five lengths and more at Newmarket last time, leaving connections in positive mood ahead of this tougher assignment.

Godolphin representative Diana Cooper told Racing UK: "It is one of the pleasures of training two -year-olds - they do come on and learn with every experience they have.

"He really pleased us and is an out-and-out professional. We are very much hoping he does the job on Wednesday."

Rio De La Plata will be opposed in the seven-furlong Group Two prize by Aidan O'Brien's Lizard Island, Andrew Balding's Donegal and the Marcus Tregoning-trained Il Warrd.

That trio were all successful last time out along with Scintillo, who got off the mark at the third attempt of asking at Sandown.

Ellmau and Aaim To Storm complete the seven-strong line-up.
