Sonia O'Sullivan got her Olympic preparations back on track this evening with a convincing win over 5,000 metres in Cork.
After her disappointing performance in Gateshead last week, the 2000 silver medalist made amends on home turf, coming home in 15 mins, 15.95 seconds at the Mardyke.
O'Sullivan eased into a lead she would never relinquish four laps from home to take gold ahead of Russia's Alena Samokhvalova (15:33.27) and Ireland's Maria McCambridge (15:50.16).
Earlier in the day, Gary Ryan equalled the Irish 100m record when winning in a time of 10.35 seconds.
