Racing: One Cool Cookie put up a gutsy performance to make all the running in the Powers Gold Cup at the Fairyhouse festival.

The 12-1 chance, trained by Charlie Swan and ridden by David Casey, was strongly challenged by Schindlers Hunt over the last three fences but gamely kept the 5-2 favourite at bay.

Schindlers Hunt recovered from a mistake at the third last to try and worry his rival out of it but One Cool Cookie kept finding more to win by a length and a half.

Anothercoppercoast was third, with British raider Regal Heights, trained by Donald McCain jnr, just behind in fourth.

Swan said: "He would have been some certainty in the Irish National but I have to congratulate the owner (Michael O'Leary).

"I wanted to go for that race but Mike (O'Leary) said the horse was only a novice so we should keep him to novice company.

"Jumping is his forte. He likes going right handed and loves that ground.

"He stays well and wants three miles.

"He might go for the three-mile novice chase (Ellier Developments Hanover Quay Champion Novice Chase) at Punchestown later this month but he seems to want big gaps between his races."

Fairyhouse will stage the Irish Grand National tomorrow.
