An action for damages brought by a couple who allege the organs of their stillborn baby were removed at the National Maternity Hospital without their consent has been adjourned to later this month.
A number of new witnesses have come forward to the couple's solicitor, Mr Michael Boylan, since the case opened, Mr Justice O'Donovan has heard.
The plaintiffs wanted an opportunity to interview those persons, and take statements.
After hearing from a medical witness yesterday, Mr Justice O'Donovan said he would adjourn the case to June 29th.
The proceedings have been taken by Ms Bridget Devlin and Mr Terence Devlin, of Ballyogan Crescent, Carrickmines, Dublin, whose daughter was stillborn at the hospital on May 30th, 1988.
They claim the child's organs were removed after a post-mortem, which they claim occurred without their consent. The hospital is disputing the claim.
