Banned practices under the new legislation:
The legislation bans 31 types of misleading or aggressive commercial practice, including:
• advertising a product as free when it isn't
• falsely claiming a product can cure an illness
• pretending a product is available only for a limited time in order to rush a consumer
• creating an impression that a consumer has won a prize when there is none or where the person will incur a loss overall
• hounding a consumer with unwanted calls, faxes or e-mails
• directly exhorting children to buy a product, or their parents to buy it for them
• failing to display prices of products
