A number of petrol bombs were thrown overnight by rival mobs in north Belfast.

Police were sent to the Ardoyne interface after residents in the loyalist Glenbryn area reported devices being thrown from nationalist Alliance Avenue on the roofs of houses.

Two primed petrol bombs were discovered at the rear of premises in Alliance.

A few hours later, petrol bombs were thrown from Glenbryn towards houses in Alliance.

There were no injuries and no damage caused, said a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman.
