Sandy Lyle - the 1988 champion - got the 67th U.S. Masters at Augusta National underway today with the first tee shot at the par-four opening hole.

On an overcast but dry morning, the 45-year-old Scot pulled his drive to the left of the fairway, ending a wait of 24 hours after first-round play was washed out yesterday.

Close to four inches of rain has drenched the course since Sunday, but today's weather forecast is favourable, with the morning cloud expected to give way to sunshine in the afternoon.

Ireland duo Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke get their first rounds underway at 2.20 p.m and 2.40 p.m (Irish time) respectively.
