Four police officers were injured in Co Down early today after crowds spilling out of pubs began fighting.

Four police officers were injured in Co Down early today after crowds spilling out of pubs began fighting.

Four men were arrested following the clashes involving around 30 people at Catherine Street in the village of Killyleagh, Co Down.

The wounded officers suffered cuts and bruising, with two treated for back injuries, a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said.

It is understood those involved in the disturbances had emerged from two bars in the area early this morning.
