London - The second-in-command of the bungled Stephen Lawrence murder inquiry will face disciplinary action despite announcing his retirement, the Metropolitan Police said last night.
Det Insp Ben Bullock (49), will go before a tribunal on March 22nd, little more than a month before he is due to quit the force. He had announced his retirement just 24 hours after the Police Complaints Authority said he should face seven charges of neglect of duty. Four other senior officers in the inquiry had already retired in advance of the PCA's findings.
