EU/BRITAIN: Half of British voters have not yet made up their mind how they would vote in a referendum on the EU constitution, a poll indicated yesterday.
A total of 48 per cent of people said they either did not know how they would vote or could be persuaded to change their mind.
A quarter said they would definitely vote No and twice as many would definitely vote Yes, according to the NOP poll for the Britain in Europe group.
Lucy Powell, campaign director of the pro-EU group, said: "There has been an avalanche of misinformation from the anti-Europeans but this has failed to create concrete opposition to the proposed constitutional treaty.
"If and when agreement is reached, the real debate will start and we will be able to judge the treaty on its merits and not on the wild accusations of those who would say No to anything, simply because it comes from Europe."
The poll also found 29 per cent of people thought the referendum was about Britain joining the euro and 12 per cent thought it was over Britain pulling out of the EU. A total of 32 per cent knew it was about the constitution. Some 20 per cent said they did not know. NOP questioned 951 adults last weekend for the poll.
