The State Pathologist has been called in to carry out a post mortem on the body of a 34-year-old Limerick man who died in hospital yesterday.

Mr Anthony Noonan was found injured on a roadside near Kilfinnane four days ago.

Dr John Harbison is due to begin the examination later this afternoon, with a result expected this evening.

A Garda spokesman told ireland.comthat gardaí in Limerick were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding MrNoonan's death.

It is understood he found with a severe head injury. A car in which he was a passenger that night has also been technically examined.

Mr Noonan had been on a life support machine since he was first brought to hospital last Friday morning.
