The President, Mrs McAleese, conveyed her personal condolences to Mrs Hamilton.
The President paid tribute to Mr Justice Hamilton's long and distinguished service to the country and to the legal profession.
"His learned advice as a member of the Council of State had always been greatly valued," she added.
