Priests in Strabane, Co Tyrone, have warned parishioners to ignore the contents of a chain letter which offers drops of water from Lourdes for £14.

Writing in the weekly bulletin for St Mary's Church, the priests stated the letter was "sent to some people in the Strabane area supposedly containing two drops of water from the Holy Spring of Lourdes and asking for a small donation of £14. Our advice to anyone receiving this letter from Marie de Notre Dame is to ignore it".

Local curate Fr Pat O'Hagan accused the author of the chain of preying on vulnerable people. "This is definitely a scam and, as priests of the parish, we would condemn it," he said.
