London - The Millennium Wheel was brought to a halt yesterday after Kurdish demonstrators inside two pods reportedly threatened to set themselves on fire. The wheel on the bank of the Thames, known officially as the British Airways London Eye, stopped moving about 3 p.m.

Other protesters, believed to be Turkish Kurds, stormed the London offices of the European Commission.

Police later escorted four of the protesters off the London Eye and officers said they would be taken to a police station and interviewed about damage to a pod. Twelve men and women at the European Commission were arrested. Police returned to the pod to arrest the remaining campaigners.
