A lone raider took a small amount of cash from a post office in Co Meath this morning.

The man went into the post office in Enfield with a handgun at about 10am, according to gardai.

He left on foot in the direction of Dublin. No shots were fired and there were no injuries during the raid.

Thirty minutes earlier a man left empty handed after an attempted raid on a post office in Killucan, Co Westmeath, which is only a few kilometres from Enfield.

It is believed the same raider was involved in both incidents. He is described as being 1m 77cm (5'10"), of slim build, in his mid 20s. He was wearing a dark coloured hoody top. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardai at Enfield on 046 9541002.
