Rail passengers have been warned to arrive at least ten minutes earlier than usual for trains departing Heuston Station's new platform 10 when it opens next Monday.
Shuttle buses will carry commuters to the platform, which is located across the River Liffey, one kilometre from the main train station.
The last bus leaves 10 minutes before departure. Passengers who miss it face a 15 minute dash to their train.
Arrow trains to Kildare and Portlaoise and certain inter-city trains from Cork, Limerick and Galway will embark from the new platform. Tickets for these services will be sold at the platform.
Platform 10 was constructed as part of Irish Rail's €117 million upgrade of Heuston Station.
As part of the work, a further three new platforms will be built and two of the existing platforms will be extended.
The new platform is the ninth platform in the station but the company decided to christen it "platform 10" to distinguish it from those in the central thoroughfare.
An Iarnród Éireann spokesman advised patrons departing from the new platform to arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than usual.
"Buses will carry people to the train but as the last one runs 10 minutes before the train will leave, we are advising passengers to make allowances and turn up earlier than usual."
Two Friday-only services have operated from the platform since April.
It is being pressed into service to alleviate congestion while refurbishment is carried out on the rest of the station. Over 140,000 passengers pass through Heuston Station each weekend.
It will be closed for further upgrade work in September and in June of next year.
