Rail services back on track in time for autumn school run

Rail services appear to be on track to resuming normal operations, according to the latest information from Iarnrod Eireann

Rail services appear to be on track to resuming normal operations, according to the latest information from Iarnrod Eireann. A spokesman said yesterday the company would be continuing to add improvements to its services today and tomorrow. "We are aiming for the best possible service in order to meet the demand for this key time of year, what with kids returning to school and people returning to work from their summer holidays."

Advertising for promotional offers of discounted tickets begins on Friday in an attempt to attract customers lost during the dispute.

There will be a full service today on the Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, Rosslare, and Belfast routes to and from Dublin. There will be improved service on the Drogheda and Dundalk suburban services, Cork/Cobh service, Kildare Arrow service and Westport Intercity routes.

But despite the return to work on Monday of drivers following the end of the unofficial dispute last week, some passengers can still expect service disruptions today and tomorrow.
