The "Real IRA", the group that bombed Omagh in August 1998, will be outlawed in the US and fundraising for it made illegal under an agreement reached between the British, Irish and US governments last night, writes Jim Cusack.

The decision was made following reports from the Garda Commissioner and the RUC Chief Constable about the growing threat posed by the "Real IRA" and their allies in the Continuity IRA. It showed that the two groups had launched more than 20 attacks this year and were developing sophisticated terrorist skills.
