Former Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch wants to manage First Division Ipswich Town.

Ipswich sacked George Burley on Friday after a disappointing start to the current campaign and Rioch, who still lives in East Anglia following his spell as Norwich boss, admitted he would welcome the opportunity to take over the Portman Road hot-seat.

"Obviously I would have an interest in the position at Ipswich Town," he told BBCSport Online.

Rioch (41), who has not managed a club since leaving Wigan in February last year, said: "I am extremely sad for George. He has done a wonderful job in the eight years he has been there and is Ipswich through and through.

"But understandably in this industry you are governed by results, and naturally I would be interested in talking to Ipswich Town".
