A report to be published later today by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Robert Molloy, will show the situation for people looking for accommodation in this State is getting worse.
The number of queries at the three Threshold advice centres in Dublin, Cork and Galway increased by 12 per cent last year on 1998. The agency's annual report shows its total of clients was 18,100 in 1999, compared with 16,068 in 1998.
The number of queries received by the agency was 17,609 in 1998, rising to 19,173 last year. (The number of queries is greater than the number of clients as some clients had more than one query). The report says figures for the first six months of this year show a continuing increase in the level of demand for services.
