Another bit of lore for all you Riverdance fact-fans. Booking opened for the high-kicking extravaganza in Hobart, Tasmania on Monday at 9 a.m. and tickets were sold out by 11.16 a.m., with 700 people camping overnight to ensure they got to the top of the queue. Being there in person turned out to be a good move, because by 10 a.m. the 50,000 callers seeking tickets had entirely shut down the island's telephone system. The national radio station had to broadcast an appeal, pleading with RD fans to just stop calling - the tickets were all gone.
