Mr Eoin Green, Carnew Street, Dublin, was last seen on September 1st, when he left his home to go to work.

A renewed appeal for help in locating Mr Green was made yesterday, after his bag and mobile phone were found in the Washington Street area of Cork on Wednesday. Extensive searches were carried out in the area.

Mr Green was spotted boarding a bus to Galway on CCTV and gardaí in Mill Street, Galway, were alerted, said a Garda spokesman.

Mr Green was described as "safe and sound" by a Garda spokesman and was in the company of family.

Court told garda injured by youth

A garda was left badly injured and was absent from work for five months after he was dragged into a house, held at knifepoint and attacked by youths, a court heard yesterday.

Judge Thomas Fitzpatrick was told at the Dublin Children's Court that the garda was off work for five months, had cuts under his eye and on his head, and still had a sore back, following the alleged incident in Ballymun, on October 25th, last year. Garda Sgt Francis Gormley told the court that the garda had been attempting to arrest a youth. There was a struggle and the garda was dragged into the house and held at knifepoint and threatened.

It is alleged other youths came into the house and attacked the garda, and that a 16-year-old boy smashed a bottle in his face and kicked him on his head and body.

The 16-year-old is charged with obstruction of a garda in the execution of his duty.

Judge Fitzpatrick refused jurisdiction to hear the case in the Children's Court and ordered that it be sent forward to the Circuit Criminal Court.

He also ordered the preparation of a book of evidence and remanded the teenager on bail until October 28th.
