An urn containing the ashes of a man that went missing after it was sent on a Ryanair flight has been found and will be returned to his wife today.
Eileen Grufferty had travelled from Australia to Ireland with an urn containing the ashes of her husband, Jack.
Some of the ashes were scattered in a ceremony at Croagh Patrick, and the remainder were to be burried in Epsom, Surrey, last week. But the urn went missing on a Ryanair flight to Gatwick last Monday.
A spokeswoman for Ryanair confirmed to ireland.comthat the ashes had been found and would be returned today to Mrs Grufferty in Surrey.
Family members told the media last week that Mrs Grufferty had been traumatised by the events.
Mrs Grufferty, originally from Cork but living in Melbourne for 38 years, checked the ashes in at Cork airport on a flight to Gatwick. She believed she would not be allowed to carry them on board the flight due to increased security measures.
The woman's husband died on July 26th, 2005, some weeks after he had been diagnosed with cancer.
