French President Nicolas Sarkozy unveiled a broad-based cabinet today.
Maintaining an election promise, Mr Sarkozy appointed seven women to his 15-strong team and reduced the number of ministers by half. The new cabinet is due to hold its first meeting this afternoon.
He named Francois Fillon as prime minister yesterday, banking on the moderate conservative's negotiating skills to push through sweeping reforms in the face of union resistance.
Mr Sarkozy has pledged to cut taxes, slash unemployment and toughen sentences for repeat offenders and says he wants to act quickly to keep his electoral promises.
