A primary school workbook published by Waterford City Council captures highlights from the 1,100-year history of the city following its establishment by the Vikings in 914.

Waterford . . . Where I Live is aimed at fifth- and sixth-class pupils and, running to almost 70 pages, will be distributed free to all primary schools in the city and its hinterland in September to help encourage civic pride. Introducing the publication, the mayor of Waterford, Cllr Pat Hayes, said the book offers an accessible but reliable take on Waterford’s rich history and noted it included a walking tour route taking in the historic city walls.

“This is a very exciting project and one that all involved in can be very proud of delivering. What we have here is a workbook that will help bring this city’s tremendous history vividly to life for the children who use it at school and home.”
