A seaman was lost overboard from a British oil tanker near the Skellig Rocks off Co Kerry yesterday

A seaman was lost overboard from a British oil tanker near the Skellig Rocks off Co Kerry yesterday. The man went missing at around 4 p.m. from the Forth Fisher, which was about 6 miles west of Dursey Island.

The Shannon-based rescue helicopter, the Valentia and Castletownbere lifeboats were involved in a search operation. The search was called off at 10.30 p.m. last night and was due to resume at first light.
