Setback for Schroder in election

Stuttgart - Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's Social Democratic Party (SPD) appeared to suffer a new setback yesterday in municipal elections in Baden Wurttemberg. According to early estimates by the German public television channel ARDSWR in Stuttgart, the capital, and Mannheim, the result indicates a strong showing by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) at the expense of the SPD, which lost ground in its traditional strongholds.
