London - The British Met Office issued severe weather warnings as heavy rains swept across the south-west of England and Wales yesterday, writes Rachel Donnelly. The bad weather forced the Environment Agency to put out 13 flood warnings in the south-west.The warnings came after an inch of rain fell in an hour in parts of the south-west. The forecast is for a lot more, the Met Office said. The A39 in Somerset was closed due to the deterioration of the road surface. In Gloucester one rugby fan was left particularly unhappy after the downpour destroyed the cellar where he stored his collection of Welsh rugby memorabilia.
