Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Mr Ariel Sharon yesterday unreservedly threw his weight behind Israel's ambassador to Sweden, Mr Zvi Mazel, who on Friday wrecked an art exhibit in Stockholm that depicted a Palestinian suicide bomber as "Snow White".

Mr Sharon reflected the sentiments of many Israelis who are angry with what they perceive as a predominantly pro-Palestinian attitude in Europe.

Mr Mazel was captured on video unplugging the spotlights around the Snow White and the Madness of Truth exhibit at Stockholm's Museum of National Antiquities. He also pushed one of the spotlights into a pool filled with red-coloured fluid and on which a boat floated carrying the picture of Hanadi Jaradat, a female bomber who killed 22 Israeli Jews and Arabs in a restaurant in the northern town of Haifa last October.

The Israeli envoy said it was unfathomable how the exhibition, which was a protest against genocide, could include an exhibit portraying a suicide bomber as Snow White. "In my eyes, that's not art. It's abominable," he said.
