Jason Byrne has joined Shelbourne after manager Pat Fenlon agreed personal terms with the former Bray Wanderers striker this morning.

The 24-year-old, who is a first cousin of Irish international striker Robbie Keane, signed a three-year professional contract with the Tolka Park outfit.

Byrne has been a prolific striker in his own right, netting 64 goals in 159 appearances for the Wicklow side.

"I'm delighted to have joined a big club like Shelbourne, but obviously a little disappointed to leave Bray where I enjoyed playing," Byrne said to ireland.com

"We're heading off for a week's training in Marbella and after that I can't wait to get stuck into the new season for Shels."

Fenlon is also attempting to sign a midfield player from the English Nationwide divisions but remained tight-lipped on the players identity.
